"Perceiving Freedom".

From Every Angle

I got to photograph a sculpture with a difference from every angle.  This giant pair of glasses were put up at the Sea Point promenade, Cape Town South-Africa, to honour late former President Nelson Mandela.

It is a giant set of stainless steel spectacles, anchored on the ground facing Robben Island. Artist Michael Elion says the artwork is dubbed “Perceiving Freedom”.

The structure, a pair of giant wayfarers staring at Robben Island, is partly sponsored by Ray-ban eyewear. Created by artist Michael Elion, in conjunction with the City of Cape Town as part of World Design Capital 2014, the ‘Perceiving Freedom’ installation is said to be a tribute to Mandela.
