Lionesses will often bring back a small animal, such as a baby antelope, alive so that the cubs can practice their hunting skills.
Until they reach age 2, lions cannot roar
On our Safari at Shindzela in the Timbavati game Reserve we had the privilege to see lions on a couple of occasions. On one of our afternoon drives we came across some lion cubs cooling down in the shade.
Baby lions may be referred to as cubs, whelps, or lionets.
A lion can run for short distances at 50 mph and leap as far as 36 feet.
A lion’s heels don’t touch the ground when it walks.

This bird was not too happy with the cubs intrusion and made quite a racket.
We sat watching the cubs for a while and even got to see the one little one get up and move to a watering hole close by. Even when we moved the vehicle to be able to have a better view the cub didn’t run away. They were very chilled and quiet content having us so close.
African lions are the most social of all big cats and live together in groups or “prides.” A pride consists of about 15 lions.
A lion may sleep up to 20 hours a day.
