Santiago has beautiful graffiti covered streets but walking along the river and through the pathways of its many parks has also been a beautiful experience. These are some of the paths that I have traveled down during my stay in Santiago. For Ailsa’s travel theme of pathways I will share my favourite Santiago park pathways.

I walk through Park De Las Esculturas to work every day

I walk through Park De Las Esculturas to work every day

Park De Las Esculturas is right next to the Mapocho River and filled with trees starting to show lovely autumn colours. I love walking this pathway every afternoon to my class, it always calms me down and helps me find a bit of peace in my day.

Pathways through Park Forestal, filled with lovely autumn colours!

Park Forestal  is an urban park here in Santiago, Chile. The park was created on reclaimed land from the Mapocho River and is located in the historical downtown.  This is the pathway I walked through the park to reach the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes which is situated in this park.

I followed this pathway through Park Quinta Normal in the west of Santiago.

I followed this pathway through Park Quinta Normal in the west of Santiago.

Park Quinta Normal is filled with trees and is home to four of Santiago’s museums. I decided the museums can wait for Sunday when entrance will be free, the autumn coloured pathways took all my attention that Saturday afternoon. I was very down that day and this walk through the park helped cheer me up a bit.

Park Balmaceda where I sat reading this afternoon

Park Balmaceda where I sat reading this afternoon

Park Balmaceda is a thin strip next to the River where I sat reading this afternoon. After walking around the city center I bought myself a lovely Starbucks coffee and after walking down this pathway I sat on this bench reading a Terry Pratchett book. I have been having a very tough time here in Santiago and needed a time out to try and calm myself down. I find walking through the tree lane pathways of Santiago very soothing. I can actually forget that I am in the middle of a city and take my mind off work  and everything that is bothering me.
