My brother and I visited some family down in Stellenbosch this December. We stayed at my aunts on their little vineyard and had a great time. We went wine tasting on the 31st of December with my cousin and his wife. They took us to Delaire Graff Estate.
Delaire Graff Estate is one of South Africa’s finest vineyards in Stellenbosch. It is situated in Stellenbosch in the heart of South Africa’s most historic and prestigious wine region. It was founded by Simon van der Stel in 1679. Looking at the magnificent view, he decided to rename the farm Delaire Estate, meaning “From the Sky”.
It is owned by globally renowned and respected diamond merchant Laurence Graff. It is a state of the art winery and a restaurant opened in 2009 followed by an exclusive lodge and spa in May 2010 and a Graff Diamond and 100% Capri Clothing boutique in December 2010. The Estate is now considered to be one of South Africa’s leading luxury destinations, already winning accolades for its wine, design, food and accommodation.
The Wine Lounge invites guests to sample and experience the Delaire Graff wine range in an idyllic setting with original artworks from Laurence Graff ’s personal collection on display throughout representing some of South Africa’s finest contemporary artists. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful scenery while tasting some fabulous wines!
We had a very knowledgeable wine tutor who advised us about Delaire Graff’s style of wines and current vintages, and made some great recommendations. It was a lovely experience and definitely one of the most beautiful wine tasting settings I’ve had the opportunity to experience.
