I found myself in Chile, living in a beautiful city and with a lovely job that I really enjoyed but there was something wrong. As I walked through this beautiful city it felt like I should be somewhere else.

I realized that unfortunately my heart wasn’t in it anymore. I usually see my adjustment in foreign countries as an adventure but this time a bit of the adventure had turned into “work”.

My heart has made it clear that its time for a huge change in my life.

I have now left Chile and am now back in the UK from where I am planning my next move. I am thinking that its time for an adventure in my home country!

  1. Thats a big decision to make, but good on you for making it. I like how you still write about the things that you appreciate about the place. Best of luck for your next adventure!

  2. Good luck Janaline! I hope you continue your blog, you’ve inspired me in many ways in writing mine. The graffiti is something I’m noticing more and more now, it’s worth going to not so nice neighborhoods to catalog some of it. And how it changes as well! Walls get painted over in months with new artwork.

    • Thank you so much Terry!! I am glad you are getting to see the street art part of Santiago, it is such a beautiful and interesting part of Chile. I enjoy reading your blog and will be following to see what you get up to and what new things you uncover in Santiago!!

    • I agree, Santiago has beautiful street art! This is definitely the first city that I have been to that is filled with such beautiful murals and where the street art gives the city its character.

  4. I felt very similarly about Bogota! After living there for a year the efforts to integrate just didn’t seem to pay off. I wasn’t learning anymore, just struggling, and that’s when I knew I had to leave. The street art in South America is incredible, though!
